Work is underway to build 72 new affordable homes close to Wigan town centre in partnership with the council.
Housing association Jigsaw Homes Group is building the new affordable rent homes at Field Street – an £8m development funded by the housing group with grant support from Homes England and in partnership with Wigan Council.
The scheme is being built on brownfield land and will comprise of 10, 1-bed apartments, 40, two-bed and 22, three-bed houses for completion in early 2021.
Homes will be built to a high urban design quality, will be energy efficient and will help to create sustainable communities.
The homes will be built by contractor Casey and managed by social landlord Adactus Housing Association, part of the Jigsaw Homes Group which currently owns and manages around 34,000 homes across the North West and East Midlands.
Homes will be let in accordance with Wigan Council and Jigsaw’s allocation policies.

“These homes are also part of our wider plans as Jigsaw to create around 2,400 homes across the North West and East Midlands by 2020 through a range of tenures including affordable rent, shared ownership and market sale.”

As part of The Deal 2030, we want to ensure we develop high quality, affordable and accessible homes for all our residents to meet current and future needs.”
The Deal 2030 is Wigan borough’s strategy for the next 10 years.
