Pupils in Tameside took part in an interactive comedy workshop to help build confidence and connect with one another as part of Children’s Mental Health Week.
This year’s theme was ‘This is My Place’ and encouraged children to feel heard, valued and empowered to express themselves freely through creativity and humour.
Held at Fairfield Road Primary school in Droylsden, schoolchildren met Charlotte Cropper from ‘The Big Comedy Shop’, who delivered the fun two-day interactive comedy and role-play workshop.
Our Neighbourhood Engagement Officer Gemma Batchelor worked closely with Stephanie Burns, PSHE Lead & Mental Health Lead from the school, alongside Charlotte to deliver the sessions.
The children, aged 7-10, learned how to express their ideas and embrace their individuality through performance and teamwork in positive sessions filled with laughter where every child could take part in a way that felt right for them.
Stephanie said: “The children have absolutely loved Charlotte. Walking around school, I’ve heard children saying how much they’ve enjoyed playing games with their friends. They felt valued and enjoyed making others and themselves laugh.
“Thank you to Charlotte for two fun-filled days and for helping children to feel valued and thanks again to Gemma for facilitating this wonderful workshop.”
The sessions form part of the ongoing commitment to supporting wellbeing and early intervention within our neighbourhoods.
