Funding helps Dance Academies get on their Feet

Jigsaw’s Advice and Business Support (JABS) service and their Jigsaw Foundation have helped two local dance academies take off and provide dance classes in the local communities.

MCR Dance Academy, a hip-hop dance school in Ashton-Under-Lyne, reached out to our Jigsaw Advice and Business Service (JABS) last year for support and guidance with their budding business.

The group received a £500 grant which helped them to purchase a large dance studio mirror and has allowed them to continue making health and fitness accessible to everyone in the community.

One year on and they have now qualified for the prestigious All Star World Championships in Florida and are currently fund-raising to help their dancers travel to the USA and compete in the competition.

Jigsaw Foundation has helped dance academy Brink Productions Limited find its feet after awarding them £14,350 in funding.

With funding spread over a three year period, the dance company will provide weekly street dance sessions for 5-12 year olds at The Powerhouse in Moss Side.

The sessions take place every Tuesday between 5:30pm – 7pm and are free to attend; helping to make sure everyone in the local community can access the classes.

The academy has recently performed at a hate crime awareness event, a Christmas celebration and a summer fair. They have also been asked to perform at Bridgewater Hall’s Youth Summit.

If you know any residents who like to take part in Brink Production’s free classes, please email lisa.brink03@btinternet.com.
