Getting Out and About in Carlton

A new information leaflet and map has been designed to help older and less able residents across Carlton find places to rest when out and about in the Nottinghamshire town.

It has been produced by Active Notts which works with partners to empower people to be active in a way that works for them, and is funded by Sport England, in partnership with Jigsaw, Age Concern Carlton & District and Gedling Borough Council.

The leaflet called ‘Getting out and about in Carlton’, shows where benches in Carlton are situated, helping local residents to plan rest stops when out and about and move around with greater confidence.

The leaflet is available from the information stand in the Age Concern Carlton & District shop and will be delivered to our Housing for Over 55s schemes in the area.

Sara Davis, an active health coach and Pat Hajat resident at Moreland Court in Carlton, took part in a walk along Carlton Hill to help map out facilities for our residents and the local community.

Sara works with the residents of Moreland Court and other Jigsaw Homes Housing for Over 55s schemes running a weekly chair-based exercise class.

Pat said: “I really enjoyed the walk with Sara and think the printed booklet is a fantastic and very useful idea.”
