The largest affordable housing development in Wyre to date has been launched, providing more homes for local people.
Residents have all moved into the 210 -home scheme off Bourne Road, in Thornton Cleveleys, which was developed by Breck Homes on behalf of Jigsaw Homes Group.
Jigsaw Homes also worked closely with Wyre Council and Homes England to deliver the homes on the site of a former power station.
The £25m development which includes a combination of one-to-four bed houses, bungalows and apartments for Affordable Rent and Rent to Buy, is both Jigsaw’s and Breck’s largest scheme to date.
Jigsaw Homes Group Chief Executive Brian Moran was at the scheme opening alongside Group Director of Development Katie Marshall and Group Director of Neighbourhoods and Support Donna Kelly. They were joined by Breck’s Technical Director Dan King and Commercial Director David Evans, together with Bhupinder Gosal and Lewis Young from Homes England.
Construction began in 2022 and the first residents started to move in, in March 2023. It was completed a year ahead of schedule at the end of March 2025.
One of those who moved into a two-bed house with her partner Jake, a plumber and baby son Jasper, is Donna Long who had previously been living with a family member.
She said: “We saw these home being built and went online to check when they were available. As soon as one of the Rent to Buy properties came up, we bid for it straight away and luckily we were invited to view it. Once we had gone through the affordability checks we got the call to say we had been offered the house we wanted. It felt amazing, knowing we would have our own home that we can work towards owning.”
All homes on the scheme come with carpets and blinds and Donna said she was keen to add her own stamp.
“I couldn’t wait to buy things for the house and really make it our own. We have a big garden for Jasper to play in and a larger driveway for Jake’s van. There’s a park nearby, and a good school down the road and the neighbours are fantastic. We honestly could not ask for a better place to live and we absolutely love it here.”
Brian Moran, Chief Executive of Jigsaw Homes Group said: “We are very proud to have delivered a scheme of this size providing a mix of quality, affordable homes that meet the local demand and help to create real communities.
“We have a great track record of providing new homes in this area with many more affordable homes currently being built. We are really pleased to have worked in partnership with Wyre Council, Homes England and Breck to bring this large scheme to fruition, and it was great to hear first-hand from our new residents about how happy there are to live here.”
Dan King, Technical Director at Breck said: “The scale of this development required us to take a multi-phased approach to delivery, so residents could move into completed units while construction continued safely and efficiently on other plots. It has highlighted our expertise working with registered housing providers on sites of this size to a high quality and on schedule.
“It is heartening to see so many individuals, couples and families already settling into their new homes. To date, this is Breck’s largest completed development and we are currently on-site at further large developments including 205 homes in Winsford, also on behalf of Jigsaw. We’re looking forward to continuing to work in partnership with the organisation over the coming years to deliver high-quality affordable homes across the North.”
