Residents Enjoy Summer of Fun

The Jigsaw Homes Neighbourhood team have been helping to host a number of activity days for families to enjoy over the school summer holidays.

A street play event on Ennerdale Terrace, Stalybridge has helped to encourage local children to get active outside and use their surrounding neighbourhood as a safe place to play.

Children brought their bikes along to be serviced by a bike doctor and were able to ride around in designated safe spaces. They also played street games and were given grow your own cress and sunflower sets.

Jigsaw worked with TMBC and British Triathlon to host the event which also offered healthy snacks and cool drinks for the children to enjoy.

British Triathlon even brought t-shirts and shorts along for the children to keep and wear.

Vikki Barry, Jigsaw’s Neighbourhood Engagement Officer, said, “We had amazing feedback from the children and their parents. A fun day was had by all whilst providing a safe place to play and some education around riding bikes and their maintenance as well as offering healthy food.

In Dukinfield, residents were invited to attend the Craft Café and get stuck into an afternoon of arts and craft activities.

A free community Fun Day also took place at Oxford Park in Ashton and offered a number of fun-filled activities ranging from a climbing wall, a bouncy castle, face painting and an array of free food.

The team also set up a stall for residents to visit and receive energy advice and learn about our employment and skills club.

Community Gathering, Ashton Pioneer Homes, Greater Manchester Police, Leap, Active Tameside and the NHS also helped to arrange the event.
