Celebrating Mexican Culture Thanks to Jigsaw Foundation

Celebrating Mexican Culture Thanks to Jigsaw Foundation

Residents from Hunters Court and Beatrix House, Jigsaw’s Housing for Over 55s schemes, came together for a vibrant Mexican-themed event thanks to funding from the Jigsaw Foundation.

The afternoon, held in the communal area at Beatrix House in Dukinfield, featured a lively mix of food, entertainment, and decorations, creating a welcoming and festive atmosphere for all who attended.

Guests enjoyed a selection of Mexican dishes including chilli and fajitas, followed by cakes. Entertainment included a raffle and a group singalong with a live singer.

The event was organised by the residents themselves after receiving £3,000 in funding from the Jigsaw Foundation. The funding was also used to buy themed decorations and costumes, which helped bring the celebration to life.

In addition to the Mexican event, the grant will be used to enhance the communal garden area and support ongoing social activities throughout the year. Planned events include weekly gatherings and seasonal celebrations such as Halloween, Christmas, and New Year.

These activities are designed to promote social interaction and inclusion among residents, helping to reduce loneliness and improve overall wellbeing.
