Eid Mubarak

Eid Mubarak

Residents in Ashton-under-Lyne came together last week to celebrate Eid-al-Fitr with a community party, enjoying delicious food and fun-filled games.

The celebration marks the end of Ramadan, during which Muslims fast from dawn to sunset to focus on their faith and devotion to Allah. This year, Eid-al-Fitr fell on Thursday 19 to Friday 20 March, as its date is determined by the lunar cycle.

Our Neighbourhood Engagement Officer Minaz Aslam organised an Eid party at Holy Trinity Primary School for residents who attend the weekly Cook and Eat classes, supported by Lesley Ainsworth, Pastoral Lead at the school.

A total of 15 residents joined, and each cooked a dish that they had learned at the class to bring along to the party to share with others before enjoying games and music together.
