Ready, Steady, Cook and Eat

Ready, Steady, Cook and Eat

Residents in Tameside have completed a six-week cook and eat course to learn how to cook for their families on a budget.

The sessions, held at Holy Trinity Primary School in Ashton-under-Lyne, invited parents to create low-cost healthy meals using cooking methods that reduce energy bills, while learning about nutrients, fibre, and portion sizes.

The 10 residents who took part were able to connect, make friends and learn how to make healthier food choices.

Our Neighbourhood Engagement Officer Minaz Aslam organised the courses alongside Michelle Mckenna from Clippy’s, a food training and coaching company.

Each resident received an AQA certificate after completing the course, which was funded by our neighbourhood team.

Minaz said: “The Cook and Eat AQA award was a great opportunity for parents. It helped them build confidence, gain a qualification, and feel more connected to the school. It was a really positive experience for both families and the wider community.
