Support for Residents in Chorley

Hundreds of residents across Chorley have received support with finding work, enjoying meals at a warm hub, and combatting social isolation, thanks to the efforts of our Neighbourhood Engagement Team.

Led by Neighbourhood Engagement Officer Tracy Townson, the team worked with local partners and volunteers to deliver a range of community-focused events throughout the first week of November, aimed at helping residents feel connected and supported as the colder months approach.

At Coppull Methodist Church, over 30 residents enjoyed hot soup and a roll, as well as the chance to talk, and received packs containing socks, torches, thermal cups and fresh food market vouchers. Residents were also provided with information on energy-saving and cost of living support from attending providers including Chorley SVP Buddies, Children & Family Wellbeing Service, Chorley Council Social Prescribers and Friends of Coppull Library, as well as advice on their services.

The church also hosted a fireworks-themed canvas painting class run by Sarah’s Studio Café, where 12 people enjoyed a lunch while getting creative, alongside the opportunity to socialise with others and meet new people.

Tracy also attended Chorley Jobs Fair at Chorley Leisure Centre, run by the council to bring together providers and employers supporting residents back to work.

A total of 18 residents were given one-to-one advice on CV writing, job searching and training opportunities.

Tracy said: “As we head towards winter, people need extra help, and we are here to support where we can. It’s been wonderful to see residents coming together!”

The team successfully secured £1,000 in funding from Chorley Council to ensure the Welcome Hub continues to provide a much-needed service to Chorley residents.
