The latest report into the employment and skills opportunities created by social housing providers in Greater Manchester has revealed that in the last year almost 6,000 residents were supported towards work.
GMHP’s annual Employment and Skills Report 2024/25 shows that 5,938 residents have been helped with seeking employment.
Alongside this, 1,561 residents were supported into existing or new employment, and 5,405 residents have undertaken training. A total of 1,103 residents gained a recognised training qualification and 2,246 attended work clubs.
The report highlights the significant effort and investment made by GMHP housing providers to create employment, training, and skills opportunities to support customers and communities across the Greater Manchester region.
This activity focuses on three core areas:
- Investment in employment and skills opportunities for people living in our communities
- Being exemplary employers,
- Recognising, investing in, and supporting all forms of employment and business start-ups.
Donna Kelly, Group Director of Neighbourhoods and Support at Jigsaw Homes Group and the Chair of GMHP’s Employment and Skills group, said: “I am proud of how much the partnership has achieved in creating opportunities to enable people back into training and employment across Greater Manchester. It demonstrates what can be achieved when housing providers work together with a shared commitment to creating employment and skills opportunities for customers.
“Through the dedication and collaboration of our partners, we’re enabling people to gain the skills, training, and confidence they need to take the next step towards employment. It’s inspiring to see thousands building brighter futures for themselves and their families.”
