Residents in Manchester received a helping hand over the school holidays thanks to  several supportive initiatives organised by Jigsaw’s Neighbourhoods team.

Officer Gemma Bennet was joined by John Gilmore, Jigsaw’s Housing Officer, and Gardeners Paul Anthony and Leo Goodwin for a litter pick and grass cutting across Ancoats and Miles Platting.

They partnered with the Church of the Apostles in Miles Platting and Trinity Methodist Church in Ancoats to help keep the local area tidy and manged to collect several bags of rubbish.

Gemma also organised several food packs to be delivered to Trinity Methodist Church and distributed to families struggling financially over the school holidays.

In Ashton, Over 55’s residents were treated to a pie supper and a round of bingo at the West End Methodist Church.

The event was organised by Officer Minaz Aslam alongside the community gathering residents’ group and Nicola Woods from Ashton Pioneer Homes.

Around 30 people attended, enjoyed a hot meal and drink, as well as the chance to socialise and meet new people.

Resident Mrs Barker: “This is a great event and so well organised. I look forward to attending it and love to meet new people, playing bingo and having some fun.The hot meat and potato pie is so nice, and I almost always end up with a great raffle prize every time. Thank you to Minaz and Nicola for all their hard work putting this evening on for the community.”
