Jigsaw’s Support team hosted a celebration session at Tameside Women’s Centre last week to recognise women who have completed our volunteer mentor programme.
Over the past four weeks, the group took part in eight sessions covering various key topics including EDI, safeguarding and life skills, to help them prepare to support some of our clients.
Volunteer roles and mentoring support will be structured towards building links between Ruffley House and Tameside Women’s Centre.
The sessions aimed to help empower people to make real change happen and mentors will coach, support and encourage clients to attain and maintain meaningful interventions which help them to progress and achieve greater independence.
Neil Thomas, Jigsaw’s Volunteer and Peer Mentor Co-ordinator, said: “This has been a lovely group, and we have seven keen and committed individuals who’ve bonded as a team. If we could bottle the energy and empathy they each bring, we could ensure success with every programme.”
One volunteer said: “Thank you for your support and expertise with the sessions, I can’t wait to see where this journey goes.”
Our Support team is also co-ordinating some additional induction sessions with our volunteers, around safeguarding, confidentiality, boundaries, barriers, diversity, and inclusion.
