Community Clean-Up Creates Cleaner Crumpsall

Community Clean-Up Creates Cleaner Crumpsall

Residents in Manchester can enjoy a cleaner, greener neighbourhood thanks to a community clean-up day last week to help create a sense of pride in the local area.

Gemma Batchelor, our Neighbourhood Engagement Officer, organised the event at Peakdale Avenue in Crumpsall, with colleagues from our Neighbourhoods teams joining Manchester City Council to make a real impact in the neighbourhood.

Five skips were provided for residents to dispose of unwanted household and garden waste, with colleagues also assisting those who needed help moving larger items.

Our Grounds Maintenance Team cut overgrown grass and tidied the green spaces across the estate, while our Reactive Caretaking Team removed fly- tipped waste, helped residents with bulky items and supported the overall clean-up of the neighbourhood.

Manchester City Council’s Enforcement Team also attended the event and provided residents with food waste caddies, green food waste liners, recycling bags and advice on recycling and responsible waste disposal.

The event aimed to improve the local environment and encourage residents to dispose of unwanted waste responsibly while also tackling fly-tipping and encouraging recycling.

It also helped to create a real sense community, with residents spending time chatting to neighbours they hadn’t met before and working together to improve the local area.

One resident said, “I loved the way the community came together today. I’ve spoken to people I’ve never really spoken to before. It’s been such an impactful day for me personally. Everyone has been so friendly and helpful, and it’s been lovely to see everyone working together. Thank you to Jigsaw Homes and all involved.”
