Half-Term Holiday Fun

Half-Term Holiday Fun

Families across our communities enjoyed an array of free, fun-packed activities organised by our Neighbourhood Engagement team.

In Crumpsall, Officer Gemma Batchelor teamed up with Rainbow Surprise and Manchester Active to support an exciting programme of activities at Crumpsall Lane Primary School.

Children were invited to take part in different sports games, get decorated with henna art and dive into a bouncy castle.

The event also included a small Eid celebration with healthy party food and refreshments, giving local children the opportunity to socialise and stay active under the sun.

Officer Tracy Townson organised a planting event at the Welcome Hub in Chorley and 25 residents joined to get stuck into the fun.

They each planted sunflower seeds and played different street games at the hub’s courtyard, including hoops and tin can alley.

Local volunteers helped to coordinate the event which also provided a healthy breakfast for families to tuck into at the session.

One resident said: “My grandson came with me and enjoyed meeting new friends and planting sunflowers. We received a lovely warm welcome when we arrived and had a tasty breakfast.”

Families in Harpurhey and Moston were supported throughout the holidays with holiday hunger bags, helping to ease financial pressure over the school holidays.

Officer Julie Fraser also helped to organise two successful family fun events at Sunnybrow Park and Annie Lees Park in Gorton.

Across both events, more than 500 local residents attended and enjoyed dance performances, arts and crafts and free ice creams for all children.

These collaborative events were delivered in partnership with several organisations working across the Gorton area, helping to strengthen community ties and provide accessible, inclusive support for residents.

Around 47 children and young people attended Fast Club in Ashton-Under-Lyne, a two week long programme of activities organised by Officer Minaz Aslam in partnership with Lindley Educational Trust.

Children enjoyed a trip to the cinema, had access to a cycle track, played different sports games and even visited an inflatable park. Each child was provided with a healthy packed lunch every day.
