A Cultural Day Out at The Lowry

A Cultural Day Out at The Lowry

Residents from Beswick and Dukinfield enjoyed a cultural communal outing as they visited The Lowry theatre in Salford to explore three inspiring exhibitions.

Organised by Jigsaw’s neighbourhood engagement team, in partnership with The Royal Exchange Theatre, and community artist Samantha Edwards (of Phoebe Foxtrot illustrations), the day offered a chance for Chatty Crafters from Beswick Library and the Craft Café from Dukinfield Hub to get together, socialise and bond over the arts.

Each group, which is supported by Jigsaw, visited The Modern Life: Lowry Art Collection, Going to The Match 360 Experience, and the Quentin Blake and Me exhibitions.

Samantha said: “It is the biggest joy to facilitate a trip for 30 of us to enjoy the exhibitions at The Lowry. Everyone joined together to draw, chat and enjoy art. Everyone deserves art and to feel they have the right to stomp around galleries. It’s my life’s mission to make this happen as much as I can.

“Thank you to Esme Moszynska from the Royal Exchange Theatre and John McGlynn at Jigsaw for all your support and helping to make this a great cultural experience for everyone.”

Resident Corbyn from the Dukinfield Hub Craft Café said: “Honestly it was such an amazing day. Everyone said they had a lovely experience and thank you for the opportunity of today’s trip to The Lowry. “I enjoy Tuesdays so much now going to the Jigsaw Craft Cafe and taking part in brilliant activities like this with other people.”
