Over one hundred children and families enjoyed a wide range of fun-filled summer holiday activities across Jigsaw’s communities, thanks to its Neighbourhood Engagement Team.
In Chorley, Neighbourhood Engagement Officer Tracy Townson organised a holiday hunger event at the Welcome Hub, offering a space for 44 children and their families to receive a free breakfast and take part in fun summer activities.
The event ran across four weeks and children received a free fruit bag to enjoy a healthy snack. Tracy also handed cinema vouchers out for families to redeem alongside a tasty treat.
Officer Gemma Batchelor teamed up with Rainbow Surprise to organise several active summer sessions for children in Crumpsall, Manchester.
This included a play day event at Crumpsall Park, inviting children to take part in sports games, arts and crafts activities, and a tombola, as well as a range of holiday activity sessions for local children to jump into, organised with Tameside Active
Gemma also invited families from the Menopause Support Group to a family picnic together at Crumpsall Park.
Two family fun days were held in Dukinfield, with 44 children and parents attending several crafty activities, including making bug houses, making crowns for a fashion parade, learning how to create cyanotype prints and taking part in a scavenger hunt.
The events were organised by Officer Joanne Shaw who also hosted two family fun days at Oldham Community Grocers. Around 22 residents attended, with children painting a bird house and decorating windchimes.
At Gibson Terrace in Ashton, Officer Minaz Aslam helped to fund a series of arts and craft sessions for 28 residents. Facilitated by Olivia Peers from Born and Bred Dance Theatre, families could create pop-up gardens, jellyfish mobiles and spray-painted pictures together.
Minaz also teamed up with Lindley Educational Trust to host Fast Club at Holy Trinity Primary School in Ashton-Under-Lyne. Fast Club provided a whole host of free events for local children to take part in, including swimming sessions, a two-night camping trip, a visit to the cycle track and many other sporty activities.
Officer Carolyn Alston organised weekly summer holiday sessions at the Audenshaw Community Hub, inviting children to take parts in art activities, enjoy a tasty lunch and practice gardening at the community greenhouse.
