Hundreds of Homes in Line for £4.6m Vital Energy Upgrades

Jigsaw Homes Group is working with energy supply and solutions provider E.ON to deliver £4.6m worth of upgrades to hundreds of homes throughout the North West and East Midlands to improve their energy performance.

After securing more than £1.7m in funding from the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund via the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) and Midlands Energy Hub, housing provider Jigsaw has selected around 370 properties to receive upgrades.

A share of the decarbonisation fund will be split across the regions where Jigsaw works and it will match the remaining funding.

Around of £1.5m has been set aside for 270 properties across Greater Manchester, £1.5m for 98 properties in Tameside and £1.6m for 98 properties in Arnold and Carlton in Nottinghamshire.

Through Jigsaw’s commitment to delivering more sustainable housing, E.ON will survey each selected home and recommend improvements to help improve its energy efficiency performance.

Proposed improvements will include internal and external wall and roof insulation, energy efficient lighting and Air Source Heat Pumps to bring the homes up to a minimum Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating ‘C’.

Hundreds of residents’ homes are now being surveyed by E.ON and any work required will take place between now and March 2023, as part of Jigsaw’s ongoing programme to improve all homes to a minimum EPC ‘C’ by 2030.

Andy Marshall, Group Director of Asset Management at Jigsaw Homes Group said: “We are committed to cutting carbon emissions as part of our bid to reach net zero carbon by 2050 and reaching the goal of having all our properties to minimum EPC level C by 2030. We are continuing to put this into action though our partnership with E.ON.”

“Our ongoing programme to upgrade our homes will ensure our properties become more energy efficient; helping to keep our residents safe and warm and potentially benefitting from cheaper energy bills too.”

Chris Lovatt, Chief Operating Officer for UK Solutions at E.ON, said: “Energy efficiency remains the most effective way to reduce household energy bills in the short and long term. Millions of homes across the country desperately need an energy efficiency upgrade; working with Jigsaw Homes we’re tackling the challenge for people living in Nottinghamshire and Greater Manchester.

“By reducing individual households’ impact on the environment through better energy efficiency and low carbon heating, we’re also collectively helping to support the country’s net-zero goals.“
