Hundreds of local residents in Tameside came together for a successful annual fun day, organised by the St. Peter’s Community Gathering.
Held at Active Oxford Park, the free community event once again brought families, friends and neighbours together for an afternoon packed with fun and entertainment.
Visitors enjoyed live music, games, face painting, henna, a bouncy castle, community stalls, refreshments and activities for all ages, creating a vibrant atmosphere that celebrated the very best of the local community.
The event was made possible through the Jigsaw Foundation and the St. Peter’s Community Gathering group, alongside a network of local organisations, volunteers and partners who worked to ensure the day was a success.
Minaz Aslam, Jigsaw’s Neighbourhood Engagement Officer said:
“Events like the Oxford Park Fun Day demonstrate the power of partnership working and community engagement. They provide an opportunity for neighbours to connect, children to have fun, and local organisations to showcase the support available within the community.
“The event was a fantastic success, bringing together hundreds of residents from many different cultures and backgrounds to celebrate everything that makes this community so special. It was wonderful to see families, neighbours and local organisations enjoying the day together, creating new friendships and strengthening community.”
Councillors Joyce Bowerman and Councillor Atta Ul-Rasool who attended said: “It was inspiring to see families enjoying the activities, meeting their neighbours and celebrating everything that makes our community so special. We’d like to thank everyone who attended, volunteered and supported the event, helping to make another memorable day for St. Peter’s.”
The event is already being planned for next year.
