Residents in Oldham have come together over the past 12 weeks to take part in a special gardening project.
More than 35 women joined the scheme to help grow healthy, fresh produce while building community connections.
The sessions, held twice a week at Burnley Brow School and the Fernhurst Allotment, were organised by Mohammed Rahman from Naz Gardens and our Neighbourhood Engagement Officer Asmina Choudhury.
Residents learned how to grow a range of seasonal vegetables, including bottle gourd, herbs and different types of spinach, which they took home to cook for their families.
As the weeks progressed, the women not only developed their gardening skills but also built lasting friendships with others from across the local area.
Resident Ambia Khatun said: “I loved it, and I am going to miss everyone. I liked being around people and learning new skills. My mind feels fresh and relaxed – it has helped me feel more confident in myself. I’ve also learnt a lot about growing vegetables and have been cooking them at home for the last six weeks. It’s been amazing.”
