Foundation Funding Makes a Splash

Our Jigsaw Foundation awarded £17,655 in funding to Water Adventure Centre (WAC), helping children and young people in Tameside stay active, grow skills and build confidence.

The Water Adventure Centre (WAC) in Droylsden provides free activities for children, young people and families, creating safe and welcoming spaces where participants can build confidence, develop new skills and make lasting friendships.

Located behind the Fairfield Road estate, the centre is deeply rooted in the local community and supports many young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, including Jigsaw residents.

The funding will run over a three-year period and will help WAC continue delivering its weekly girls’ and young women’s sessions, mixed youth clubs and Sunday play clubs.

Activities include creative workshops, team projects, canoeing, kayaking, trips and residential experiences, all designed to build resilience, teamwork and life skills while ensuring young people have fun and feel connected to their community.

Julie McGlynn, Jigsaw’s Engagement, Funding and Research Officer, said: “We are delighted to support the Water Adventure Centre and the fantastic work it does for local young people.

“WAC provides opportunities for children and young people to build confidence, develop new skills and form positive relationships in a safe and welcoming environment. This funding will help ensure these valuable activities continue to benefit local families for years to come.”
