Housing providers across Greater Manchester have joined forces to mark Hate Crime Awareness Week with a shared video message to raise awareness of hate crime and encourage residents to seek support and report incidents.
The collaborative message has been led by the Manchester Housing Providers’ Partnership – 20 of the leading housing organisations from across the city region – to demonstrate a united commitment to creating safe, inclusive and welcoming communities for all.
The video highlights the importance of standing together against hate and discrimination, while helping residents understand what constitutes a hate crime or hate incident, how to report it, and where support is available.
Hate Crime Awareness Week (10-17 October 2026) is a national week of action that encourages communities, local authorities, police forces and partner organisations to work together to tackle hate crime and build stronger, more inclusive neighbourhoods.
Housing providers across Manchester are using the week to remind residents that everyone deserves to feel safe, respected and able to be themselves. No one should experience hostility, prejudice or discrimination because of their disability, race, religion, sexual orientation or transgender identity.
Many hate incidents go unreported, making it harder for organisations to understand the true scale of the issue and provide support where it is needed. Through the campaign, housing providers are encouraging anyone who has experienced or witnessed hate to come forward.
Paul Seymour, Chair of the Manchester Housing Providers’ Partnership said: “Hate has no place in our communities. Through this video as part of the campaign, Manchester’s housing providers are standing together to show that everyone deserves to feel safe, respected and supported in their neighbourhood.
“We know that hate crime and hate incidents can have a devastating impact on individuals and communities, and that many incidents aren’t reported. By working together and sharing this message, we hope to encourage more people to seek support, tell us about any incidents and help us build stronger, more inclusive communities where everyone feels welcome.”
All providers within the partnership are encouraging customers who experience or witness hate in their home or neighbourhood to report it to their organisation.
