During Hoarding Awareness Week (11-15 May 2026), Jigsaw Support worked in partnership with Jigsaw Rewards to raise awareness of hoarding disorder.
We aimed to improve understanding of the issues surrounding hoarding disorder and signpost residents to support available through Jigsaw Homes.
We launched a survey in May and received 400 responses.Thank you to everyone who took part.
You Said: Members who completed the survey were invited to take part in a short four-question quiz. Only 13% of respondents answered all four questions correctly.
We Did: These results show that there is still a need for greater awareness and education around hoarding disorder.
At Jigsaw Homes, we remain committed to supporting customers and promoting understanding of hoarding disorder by working with partners, sharing and promoting community engagement.
Following the survey, we also sponsored the North West Regional Hoarding Conference 2026, helping to bring together people with lived experience, professionals, families and carers to improve understanding and share effective approaches to support.
If you would like to attend the conference, tickets can be purchased here>>.
You Said: The results found six customers who wanted to be referred to our internal Hoarding Service and 111 customers who requested further information about services provided by Jigsaw Support.
We Did: Jigsaw Support contacted all six residents who requested a hoarding referral and reviewed their individual support needs. Appropriate advice, guidance and support were provided to ensure they could access the help available to them.
As a result, four of the six residents are now actively engaging with our Wellbeing and Tenancy Service to help improve their living conditions and support their overall mental health and wellbeing.
We also contacted the 111 residents who requested further information, providing details about the support services available through Jigsaw Support. This included information on wellbeing and tenancy sustainment services, employability support, volunteering opportunities and peer mentoring programmes, helping residents better understand the support available within their communities.
You Said: Survey respondents highlighted that hoarding disorder is often linked to social isolation and that ongoing support and community connections are important in maintaining positive change.
We Did: To strengthen the support available through our Hoarders Helping Hoarders Peer Support Group, we reviewed our venue arrangements in Tameside and secured a new location offering increased space and improved accessibility.
The new venue also provides access to a range of community resources, including a food pantry, community wardrobe and other local support groups. This creates additional opportunities for people to reduce isolation, improve their wellbeing and build sustainable support networks.
If you would like to find out more about the new peer support group location, you can read more here>>.
We would like to thank all 400 residents who took part in the survey. Your feedback is invaluable and plays a vital role in helping us improve the services we provide across Jigsaw Homes.
