JET Training Helps Volunteers Build New Skills

JET Training Helps Volunteers Build New Skills

Our Jigsaw Employment Team (JET) delivered volunteer induction training to residents from across our communities, helping them upskill and enhance their learning.

Officers Asmina Choudhury and John McGlynn provided training at the Ashton Central Community Hub to 13 residents. Each resident already volunteers at various Jigsaw run projects, including the Ashton Community Grocers and Wardrobe, the Miles Platting Community Grocers and the Dukinfield Pantry.

The hands-on training supported volunteers with customer service and communication skills, professional and personal boundaries, safeguarding, conflict management, manual handling and confidentiality.

The training course was co-designed by Asmina and John, incorporating views and feedback from volunteers and customers provided at consultations.

Participants were also given the opportunity to access accredited practical courses including Food Hygiene Level 2 and Emergency First Aid Skills to further their learning, skills and knowledge.

Resident Ifra Moeen commented: “The training was fantastic and John and Asmina delivered it very well. I now know a lot more about volunteering for Jigsaw Homes.

“It was good to learn how we can help our community by giving our time and skills.
Thank you for giving me this useful learning opportunity.”
